(A) Normal morphology of liver tissue in control rats. (B) Hepatocellular disintegration and the vacuolation in the pericentral vein (V) area in INH-treated rats (haematoxylin & eosin stain, original magnification x400). Electron microscopic examination of the rat liver revealed increased proliferation of rough endoplasmic reticulum (rER) (E) compared with normal control (D) (original magnification x16,000). Histological section of the liver tissue of INH-BNPP-treated rats (C and F) showed similar patterns to the normal control (Nu: nucleus; Mito: mitochondria)
